Hanuman meets Sita

Hanuman came to Ashoka Garden. He climbed up a tall tree and looked around.
There he saw Sita sitting quietly under another tree.
She looked very sad. Some women guards were standing near her.

Just then, Ravan came there. He spoke to Sita and asked her to be his wife.
Sita shook her head and said, “No. I belong to Ram.”

Ravan became very angry and spoke in a loud voice.
Sita was brave and did not get scared.
After some time, Ravan went away in anger.

Then a kind guard named Trijata came near Sita.
She spoke gently and tried to make Sita feel better.

After some time, the garden became quiet.
Sita was sitting alone under the tree.

Suddenly, Hanuman jumped down in front of her.
He bowed and spoke softly.
He said, “I am a messenger from Ram.”

Sita felt unsure and looked at him carefully.
She wondered, “Is this true?”

Then Hanuman showed her Ram’s ring.
Sita looked at the ring and smiled.
She knew it belonged to Ram.

Now Sita believed Hanuman.
Her heart felt lighter and happier.

They talked for a little while and shared many things.

Then Sita took off one of her ornaments.
She gave it to Hanuman and said,
“Please give this to Ram.
It will tell him that you found me.”

Sita looked at Hanuman and smiled kindly.
She said, “You must be hungry.
Go and eat some fruits from the garden.”

Hanuman bowed happily and felt thankful.

Hanuman went into the garden and ate sweet fruits.
He felt strong and happy.

As he moved around, some trees shook and fell.
The people there became worried.

Soon, Ravan heard about Hanuman.
He sent many soldiers to stop him.

Hanuman was very brave and very strong.
He fought them all and did not get hurt.

Then one of Ravan’s sons, named Akhaya Kumar, came to fight Hanuman.
Hanuman fought him and defeated him.
Akhaya Kumar did not return from the battle.

After that, Indrajit, Ravan’s powerful son, came forward.
He used a special weapon.
Hanuman became still and could not move.

The soldiers took Hanuman to Ravan’s palace.
He was brought before Ravan in the royal court.

In the royal court, Ravan thought about how to punish Hanuman.
Many people spoke and shared ideas.

They said, “Let us wrap his long tail with cloth.
Let us light the cloth with fire.”
They thought this would shame him.

So they wrapped Hanuman’s tail.
They lit it with fire.

But Hanuman was calm and brave.
He jumped up high, from roof to roof.

As he jumped, the fire spread.
Soon, many places in Lanka were burning bright.

When his work was done, Hanuman put out the fire.
He flew away from Lanka.

Hanuman went back to Ram.
He bowed and told Ram everything that had happened.
Ram listened carefully and felt proud of Hanuman.
